Week 3

The first day back at Village Prep after Agnon was just as strange as I expected. It was weird to see the silent students in the hallways again because the previous week at Agnon the students were so much energetic. However, I quickly got back into the swing of things when we started our daily routine. In the morning Lindsay and I continued to make posters for the classrooms. We made a “Classroom Rules” poster, along with a “Halls” poster outlining the rules the students should follow as they walk from class to class. We were able to make the posters a little quicker this week because we had another student from Beachwood, Jessica Borison, join us.

In the afternoon we continued to work on DRA testing with the kids. This morning we were also able to help the kids practice their sight words. All three of us worked with students in groups of three. Most of the students worked really hard to get their words but it was very challenging to try to keep their attention for fifteen or twenty minutes. I really enjoyed this exercise because I was able to work with a ton of students and I got to see many of them improve! I am excited to continue this work throughout the rest of our time at Village Prep.
