Friday was sadly my last Friday at Village Prep. In the morning, Jessica and I started by organizing student portfolios for the teachers. We had to create folders for all of the students which were supposed to include their writing assessments and their progress reports. This was a very long, tedious task but the teachers really appreciated it. We were so caught up in the folder making process that Jessica and I missed the first part of unity circle. We were both really upset. But I still got there in time to see one of my favorite students, A’sherrion, win the humanitarian award for her class.
After unity circle, I spent most of the day in Georgetown. For the first time I was able to sit in on their math class. They started of the class by singing songs that helped them count by twos and fives. Next, they worked on a worksheet and I walked around and helped a couple of the students. After math the students had a block of time called “free choice” where they could go to one of three stations. I stayed at the clock station where I helped the students tell time on miniature clocks. Friday was such a fun day and it is so hard to believe that I only have two more days at Village Prep.
