HPS Lights/Finances

While the school has been making the switch into Intensive mode again, I am still chugging along with my project. I have been researching new Cyc Lights and new Dimmer packs. Cyc lights, otherwise known as Strip lights are powerful lights that give a full wash of color onto a large white canvass known as a Cycolorama. We currently have Cyc lights using the RGB (Red Green Blue) color mixing, and while they work fine, they are somewhat outdated and lose much of their saturation due to other lights bleeding onto the cyc. The newer cyc lights (and most stage lights in general) are now LED, which makes them alot more powerful. Some also are now addding amber and white (RGBAW color mixing), which allows for practically limitless color options. (Thats a very good thing!) I've reserached and priced several models. Hopefully we will upgrade in the next year or two. Also, I've been looking at dimmer packs, which would give us more circuts. (More circuts mean more places we can plug lights in.) The other big project I worked on was going through various financial statements for HPS and compliling them onto a spreadsheet. I was looking through various invoices and recipets from purchases we have made this year. Noises Off and Hairspray were some of the biggest productions we've done in recent history, and the bugdet proves it. With many runs to Home Depot, new Sound Equipment, Costume Rentals, Wig purchases, and much more, we spent alot of money. But both shows made back alot of money, so all is good. It was interesting for me to see where all the money went, and how fast it adds up. Its actually not that hard to see why Broadway shows cost millions now. More fun projects to come next week!
