End of Week 2

Sorry this is late! Blogger wasn't working for me for the past few days. This week, Emily and I have been experimenting for the new dessert menu. Flour is changing the majority of its desserts due to summer, which offers different types of fruits. In addition, they are replacing the heavier items for lighter items, which are more appealing during the summer. We experimented with new ice creams, including dark chocolate and orange swirl, and paired them with cannolis that had a candied orange and dark chocolate marscapone/ricotta filling, which was DELICIOUS. The other dessert we worked on today were fried dough balls (similar to donuts but crispier and less sweet) with a chocolate balsamic sauce and strawberries. Having to go 5 and a half hours without a lunch break is tough, so having the opportunity to test all of these potential desserts was really nice :) Flour is planning to keep their salted brownie with basil ice cream on the menu, considering it is their most popular dessert. They will be replacing their strawberry rhubarb crostada (like a mini pie) and will be changing the panna cotta flavor from lemon mint to mixed berry (my idea!) Lots of changes are to come, and the lunch menu is also a work in progress that should be a finished product in a few weeks!
