Anti-SB 5 Rally

Some Ohio State students, mostly students who work as pages (or have worked as pages in the past) at the Statehouse, organized a rally yesterday at OSU's Student Union in protest of Senate Bill 5.  For those who don't know, the short explanation of this bill is that it limits collective bargaining rights for workers' unions, as well as restricts public workers' ability to strike.  This is an extremely simplified version of what it does, but unions are furious, democrats are furious, public workers are furious, because it means that people have less ability to negotiate working conditions, wages, etc with their employers, which is a right that people tend to take for granted these days since it seems so intuitive and necessary.  Right now a petition is circulating around Ohio which would put SB5 on the ballot as a referendum so the Ohio public could vote on whether to keep it or throw it out.  Leader Budish was asked to speak at the event, and a few of us went with him.  It is always great to see the leader stand up in front of a group of people; he is a really great speaker who makes compelling, clear points and commands attention and respect from listeners.
